The Harlem Globetrotters


EMBRACING YOUR
INNER GLOBETROTTER


Working with Herschend Family Entertainment, the largest family-owned themed attractions company in the U.S., we created the official mobile app of the iconic 100-year old Harlem Globetrotters exhibition basketball team. Known for their athleticism, theatre and comedy, we aimed to bring the fans into the action through the app, even when they weren’t at an event.

SHOOTING WITH THE TEAM


A major component of the project: Highlighting the fun and personality of the team. During a shoot on the team’s signing day in Atlanta, we had about five, action-packed minutes with each player (including Globie, the team mascot) to get all the assets we needed for the onboarding sequence and each featured player’s roster card.



Despite a tight timeline and shoot schedule, we were also able to capture 360 degree body scans of our featured players and mascots to create the 3D models for use in the Harlem Hoops AR game.
























MAKING FANS A PART OF THE SHOW


The ultimate experience for a Globetrotters fan is to see the players live on the court. The mobile app is an essential guide to an attendee’s gameday experience, delivering stats, fun facts about the players, and key attendance info. It also became an opportunity to engage fans with branded, animated video and photo filters, and an augmented reality basketball shooting challenge. (Who could resist the chance to spin a basketball like a Globetrotter?)






RESULTS


The mobile app went live in late 2018 and currently has a perfect 5.0 user rating in the iOS app store
